AutoCAD: The gold standard for architectural drawing
Overview
Over the course of 2 years, I supported the AutoCAD experience design team as a freelancer, conducting user research studies with architects, engineers, interior and set designers, even ship builders!
We interviewed dozens of professionals remotely and in person, conducted journalling studies, and analyzed surveys with thousands of users participating.
We tested product team hypotheses, validated and stress-tested design ideas, and explored mental models as well as use cases among the various professionals’ daily routines. I reported on actionable findings, and helped the product and design teams to incorporate the insights into their work.

Users prefer using fingers to a stylus, so our cursor needed to be visible above the finger, and allow for editable inputs of exact dimensions, after tap.

Users retain to the mobile app because because they value the easy viewing of their .dwg files on site, and want only the most basic markup tools for that.
